Adventure 136 – From an age before.

An odd group of characters traveled from the West across the pass on a rare early clearing.  The group traveled with a trading carvain. They reached a small town called Bresk. The town consisted of about a dozen buildings.  Most of the group found places to stay at Molly’s Flop House. While the Badger stayed across the street at Gary’s Stables. Huge, Arthur, and Elkanen  made their way over to the Beer Garden and had a few Ale. They eventually started talking and asking about the town. Not finding much in the way of jobs or adventure one of them decided to head to to a job board. The other two decided to follow.  Looking over the post, found a three legged mule for sale and some other not so interesting things. Huge about to give up spots an odd almost invisible job request. It said to go visit the alchemist for more info. Huge tells the other two and head down to the other side of town where the alchemist shop is.  Meanwhile Spec found his way into the way to the Lucky Star. He found a smoky place that looked to be some type of bar with a game of cards going. He watched for a short while then joined in. Figuring out how to earn a little bit of pocket change. The Dragonborn headed over to the priest and after giving a donation the priest headed over to get a drink.  Vlex after a quick look around made his week to the lucky star and started sneaking beers when they were distracted with the card games.

When the Badger, Aasimar, and Elf headed over to the alchemist.  They go inside the establishment with a bell ringing on the door and a Gnome named Tory pokes his head out and ask what he can do for us.  After a quick talk and a little convincing he concedes on giving us a tasked to collect some ingredients for a beast that has been seen near a vilia north of town.  Due to the danger and hunting of a young Chimera Tory recommended getting a bigger party. So knowing a few other people made it into town with the caravan. The group heads out to find them. They find the Dragonborn near the emporium and head into the Lucky Start to pick up the other two.  After a short talk they agree to head back to Tory and sign the contract. The next morning they head out north to the village of Shadebrook.

Along the way they run into a group of large Boar.  After killing the the sounder of boar. Found one that was infested with something like maggots.  But they were able to collect almost a hundred pounds of pork from the others. They come upon the small hamlet of Shadbrook with all of the villagers going around in pairs.  Once they find the party is here to take care of the monster they are happy and make dinner for the party. The odd thing is that they won’t let us in the barn. But the party comes up with a plain with the Badger digging some tunnels around one of the pens for him to hide and move around it once it is lured in to attack.  A pile of hay is put on one side for the two Paladin’s to hide in. The Gentleman and the other Ranger keep watch from the closets house.

Soon a young chimera swooped down to take the bate.  The problem was that it was not just the young one there was an adult one, presumably the mom with it.  She was apparently teaching it how to hunt and kill it’s prey. By keeping the youth down on the ground we managed to bring the mom down as well.  Hug rushed out to the fight while the Paladins finally emerged from the hey and attacked. The Badger poking up from the hole he dug attacked the young one.  The Cook that was in a different house took longer to arrive but came in with a bang of his frying pan. Elkanen managed to grab the tail with his whip and this prevented the members from getting stuck and poisoned. Spec was shooting from the window of the house.  After some tense moments the party managed to kill the two chimera and revive Vlax who had gone done in the fight. The party manges to recover the ingredients that Tory wanted. In the process Spec manages to crack a plank off the barn and see that there were creates covered in hey inside the barn.   

Well the next morning the village celebrated and cooked the party breakfast before they headed back to Bresk.  On the way back they found some large vultures eating the remains of the boar they had killed. But they screted the area to avoid a fight.  Not finding anything of interest they make it back to the town and turn the ingredients over to Tory who is impressed and says that he does not have anything more at the moment for the party.  So they head back to the beer garden and to Molly’s.
