After a couple of days the party is bored and looking for more work.  Not finding much from the members around town we headed back to Tory and he eventually gave us a job to retrieve a book.  We were not happy about it as it sounded sketchy on where to retrieve the book and danger we would be in. But he insisted that it was just a walk up and get the book.  After initially not wanting to sign the contract but find the key that Tory had would cost a 300 gp deposit that we did not have finally agreed to sign the contract. He indicated that there is a ruined keep roughly halfway to the next town, Wald.  He said it is sometimes used as a site for smugglers.

The next morning they group headed west along the road.  On the way they find a shallow grave of what appears to be a human adult and a couple of kids.  The Badger digs some graves for them and the Paladin’s do some religious rights over them kinda fighting on who gets to perform the right from their god.  After this was done they started back down the road and came upon a cart headed to Bresk. Huge flagged them down. After a short talk it sounded like the road was clear to Wald.  So the group headed down a short way and then turned off heading North to the keep. The rangers found small footprints around the area. As we got closer the keep was in the back of a stone walled area with a moat around it.   The walls and the keep look to have partially fallen down years ago but there is a large log that has been put across the moat as a bridge. The gate house was fairly intact except the gate where now spiked barricades where in its place.  Clytemnestra headed around to the side hoping to find a safer way across. Where the Badger and the rest made their way over the log with Vlax and Hug falling off the log into the muddy water of the moat. Elkanen, Arthur, and Spec made it across and started attacking Goblins that apparently have taken over the place and were shooting at the party.  The group managed to over take the walls and headed to the keep. Driving off the Goblins that found it safer to evade and escape the parties rath. Making it inside the keep after they were throwing rocks on our heads as we tried to bust down the door, revealed an open room with a staircase down on one side. Casing the Goblins down the stairs revealed a similar room.  But this one has a hallway off one side that ended up shaped like a cross. After killing the Goblins the party searches around and finds a faint inscription of a pyramid on the back wall. This resembles the key that Tory gave us so we figure out how to hold it against the wall to open the secret passageway. That leads to a small room with a few things like a dagger and scrolls but it also has a glass pane sealing off a book.  Finding out that it is magic and the glass is magic. The party is stumped as we have no means to disarm the traps. So Elkanen uses a flail to bust the glass. Black tentacles erupt from the space and they try to attack anyone that gets close. Elkanen uses his whip to knock the book on the floor. Arthur manages to go in and grab the book and bring it out but he senses a magical force causing his hands to vibrate while he is touching the book.  Hugh manges to get the book from Arthur and put it in a bag. After the battle and dealing with the magical traps the party feel they need to hold up for the night here instead of trying to head back in the dark.

COD = Arthur for managing to get the book out.
