Adventure 135 – What is this…Cave anemone?

Luceaturn – Dragonborn: Paladin (lvl 6)

After resting the night.  Horn-Rath had sent out a group to make it to the city to report in.  Get some reinforcements to help relieve the members as they build a fort to help protect this leg of the road.  The party decides to make another round to investigate the area. So they head out West along the road a couple of hours and then start circling North.  The plain was to make a three quarters of a circle and then head north back to the camp. Nothing happened till after they passed the northern point and started circling South East, back to the road.  That is when the ground collapsed around the Dwarf and he fell into a cavern getting wedged about forty feet down. He sculps earth to try to make a hand held in the side for him to try to climb out. But while he is doing this Vailrah ties a rope to a grappling hook tosses it down.  It bounces off him and then get caught on his pants as Vailrah getting her horse to backup. Bolof yells out and everyone stops while he sculps earth to create a ledge as a safety measure and then swings himself around to grab the rope. This works and is hauled up to the surface. Now looking at the now increased size of the hole.  After tossing down a lighted torch it show that the floor is about eighty feet below the surface. A couple of the party members feel a rumble that seem to coming deap down under ground. The party determine that a couple of members will crawl down the rope. While others will levitate down or fly down. On the way down they see several large rocks at the bottom.  Bolof seem to think one of the rocks seem to have moved or something odd. So he blast the large one. It does not seem to have done much but as the party gets down to the floor they start attacking the rocks that turn out to be some kind of anemone that open up and can poison their prey in an attempt to paralyze them as well as hurting them. The party manages to take out the rocks but gets fairly hurt in the process.  They also seem to hear and feel the rumbling getting closer. So they retreat back to the surface.  

After a short rest they decided to head straight back to the camp.  On getting close to the camp they find a runner coming back in a hurry because they are reporting the wagon convoy is under attack.  So the party head out immediately to help out. They come upon the convoy that created a wagon circle and trying to defend against two giants that somehow have been enhanced as they have some kind of caripus armor.  As the party split up trying to flank the giants. This works against one but the other one smashes through one of the wagons. Joe on the back of Varis who was in the shape of a giant elk run around letting Joe blast the giants.  Vailrah charges in letting Bolof lep to try to make it to the safety of the wagons. But he does not make it all the way there before the giant shifts over to fight Vailrah while a giant demon beatle emerges from the ground and appears to have communicated with giants through some scream shrieks that make them come after Vailrah as she turns to attack the beetle on its appearance.  This trapped Bolof in between the attackers. But manages to roll under a wagon nearby but then the wangon gets smashed and crushed. Luceaturn was helping out attacking the main closer giant. This keeps him in combat and almost got him killed but the party was able to kill the beetle and giants saving most of the wagons and company that was under attack. After the battle they helped they got the injured back to the camp and then they decided to head to the city to try to get more information on what has been happening around the area.  As well as to get the company help. Supplying them with food and other needed resources.
