The cleric, Hammar, is absent for this first adventure.

The setting is a walled town, Wyntbridge, with the river Wynt running through it. While not on the coast, it is fairly close. There is an Inn on the North side of town where newly arrived travelers have checked in for a rest.

At the Inn, Fishing Bear, the morning finds the ranger hanging a wanted sign looking for adventurers to assist in finding, killing, and bringing back remains of the half-orc outlaw Uther Skullhammer. The barbarian sleeps in, finally awaking to eat a late breakfast. The dwarf fighter orders breakfast with lightning ale. The thief eats some breakfast as well. The gnome mage is greeted by the not-too-bright, but not-too-ugly waitress who picks him up and hugs him. With feet dangling, the gnome mage proceeds to moterboat the waitress until she is called back to duty by the barmaid.

With a party and a purpose, the group heads down the main town road towards the local law to get information about the whereabouts of this half-orc outlaw. Except the gnome mage. He heads to the fancy hat-makers shop looking for a pointy red hat. He is slightly discouraged to find out that such a hat is not for sale in the shop. However, the hat maker will make such a hat, for a fee, that will be ready in a couple of days. the gnome mage pays the upfront fee and proceeds to explore town. The remaining party members, as walking down the town street, are attacked by a large black dog. As the dog is dying by the fatal human fighter blow, a child’s voice can be heard screaming “No, don’t hurt my dog!” Too late. The ranger gives the boy a silver piece and tells him to go get us some whiskey. Boy takes off with money.

The local law, Rafflesby Nerwit (Bailiff) is found and information about the half-orc is conveyed. Apparently, this half-orc has been harassing travelers and is hold up in the quarry, just south-east of town, building up a gang. The thief approaches one of the fancy landlords’ home in town and drops off his business card for future employment as a jester and entertainer.

By this time, the party is ready for lunch and heads back to the inn. There are now more postings on the door, one of which is about a woman who’s husband has gone missing. The party eats lunch and then proceeds to find this woman for more information. The woman tells of her husband and his brother going to the quarry for materials but they have not come back in a couple of days. So, the party figures might as well check on him while at the quarry looking for the half-orc.

The dwarf fighter, who would have thunk, asks about taking a boat towards the quarry instead of walking. A boat owner is found and with the offer of silver, some prepaid, he is willing to provide the boat trip there and back. Of course, he warns of the large silver serpent seen in the river recently.

The boat owner beaches the boat near the quarry and agrees to wait for our return. Upon disembarking, the ranger looks for tracks. Pig and wolf tracks are found, running along the river. At closer inspection, the ranger notices a much different print but then falls face first on the track, destroying it, because he fumbled on is tracking skills check.

Getting up and dusting himself off, the ranger claims the quarry is just over there. The party walks a short way and discovers the quarry. Upon investigation, there is a crack running along the base of the quarry. These are probably due to the recent earthquakes that have been happening in town and around the area. There is also a cave entrance discovered at the base of the quarry. With a battle order set, dwarf fighter, ranger, barbarian, gnome mage, and thief, the party enters.

The tunnel leads to an expansion in the cave beneath the quarry and a Goblin is noticed by the dwarf fighter, who yells “Goblin!” The dwarf fighter throws his hand axe into the back of the Goblin, killing it before it could flee for help.

The ranger, who speaks Goblin, notices Goblin voices from a nearby alcove. Instead of charging in to fight the Goblins, the party elects to setup an ambush. Speaking in Goblin tongue, the ranger says “Enough of getting water for the others, I found gold!!” This causes 4 Goblins to come running from their campfire into an ambush by the party members. Three are killed instantly, with the last, Bruce, dropping to his knees giving up. Bruce is bound and gagged. The party asks Bruce to lead the way to the Goblin treasure room.

The thief crawls through a narrow passage and encounters 4 more Goblins around a campfire arguing over who gets to eat the oxen tongue. The thief, undetected with his hand-crossbow, shoots the tongue-eating Goblin through the mouth causing him to slowly falls backwards. He is dead, surprisingly unbeknownst to the other Goblins. One of the other Goblins starts kicking and beating on the now-dead Goblin in rage because he had not let him eat the oxen tongue. While the other two Goblins are watching this, the thief shoots a Goblin in the back, killing it, and causing it to fall into the campfire. Seeing this, the other two Goblins begin to shout at the dead fire-ridden Goblin to stop doing that. It is not funny, anymore. Still undetected, the thief shoots another Goblin, who also collapses in the campfire, dead. The last Goblin, not to be outdone, throws himself on the campfire. He of course burns to death, not realizing the other Goblins were dead BEFORE landing in the fire.

Leaving this scene, the party follows Bruce’s head gestures of the way to the treasure room. Upon entering one chamber, there is a glint of gold in the far walls. As the party approaches, a couple of members notice Bruce to begin to slow his walk, trying to let the party advance past him. Luckily, the members who notice warn everyone to stop. Apparently, the wall and floor in this chamber are weak and could collapse under the weight of anyone trying to advance to the gold in the wall. After noticing another small section with gold glistening, the dwarf fighter dictates that “digging for gold is too much work. Especially, when you can just hit someone upside the head and take theirs.” So, the party moves on.

The next chamber that the party heads for is connected by a small tunnel. So, the members must go single file through the tunnel. Upon exiting the tunnel on the other side, the dwarf fighter and thief notice shadowy figures behind some rocks. The party readies for a battle. An arrow is loosed and hits Bruce, square in the head, killing him, Obviously, the Goblin shooting the arrow did not aim too well. Battle breaks out. Several Goblins try their best to attack the party members, but with not much luck. Of course the ranger is almost killed but all party members clear out the Goblins. The gnome mage uses his frost ray, the thief uses his armband crossbow, the barbarian uses his massive sword, the dwarf fighter uses his battle axe, and the ranger uses his bow. While the ranger takes a short rest,  to heal from damage caused by the Goblins and the thief, the other members search the chamber. A pool and waterfall are found in the back of the room. After the ranger urinates in the fresh water supply of the Goblins, the dwarf fighter decides to search the bottom of the pool. Nothing down there but a dwarf fighter, so the party members pull him above water before he drowns.

With only dead Goblins in this room, the party moves one, without their reluctant guide, Bruce. While traversing a rough-cut hallway, the dwarf fighter slips and falls down an incline, smashing into the wall below. Picking the dwarf fighter up, the party moves on and finds a much nicer carved hallway. Thinking this might be a good sign for finding a treasure room, the party adventures in. The hallway dead-ends. The dwarf fighter, while studying the surroundings leans on the wall which opens a hidden door. The party sneaks in and finds themselves in a room with an alter, burning candles, statue of a female Goblin, and Goblin acolytes around the alter. Battle ensues. Arrows fly, spells are cast, swords slash, and Goblins fall. Although, this time the dwarf fighter suffers too many hits and goes comatose. Of course, the human fighter hitting the dwarf fighter in the back with his sword did not help. Because of the battle no one can bind the dwarf fighter wounds so he goes through the saving throws to determine further bleeding or stabilization. Fortunately, the dwarf fighter stabilizes. The party dispatches the remaining Goblins and searches for treasure. The gnome mage finds some green goo in a vial and decides to test a drop in the dwarf fighter’s mouth. Nothing happens. As the dwarf fighter is regaining consciousness, he sees the ranger quickly zipping up his pants and the dwarf fighter becomes furious. Next, the gnome mage is seen eyeing the female Goblin statue and gets a boost from the ranger so the mage can rub her boobies. As the rubbing is occurring, suddenly, the alter begins to slide to one side. The party backs away and waits. A Goblin sticks his head up from the passageway beneath the alter. The ranger fires some arrows and kills the Goblin without making a sound.

The party ventures down the hidden staircase and finds the back entrance into what appears to be a throne room; because of the throne in the middle of the room, with someone sitting in it and a servant tending to the throne. There is a warg lying on the floor near the foot of the person in the throne. The dwarf fighter and ranger impale the servant with an axe and arrows while the human fighter advances towards the person in the throne. The thief and the mage attack the warg. The human fighter slices and dices the Goblin king while the warg is destroyed by the thief and mage. Upon the king’s death, Goblin guards abandoned their post and scurry away. Booty. Some gold items, bronze items, and other trinkets are discovered in chests in the room. The party drags the treasure back to their waiting boat and go back to town.
