Adventure 38

Party Members: 

Hammar – 6th Level Thug
Cloverdung – 6th Level Ranger
Othello – 6th Level Thief
Gubikla – 6th Level Magic User
Bone – 5th Level Fighter

The group is in a small room at the bottom of the cave dungeon. They have just finished stealing books off of the shelves in hopes they will provide ability boosts. Looking for more trouble, the party decides to head back up. Knowing there are some ghouls guarding their original entry point, they begin to look for an alternative exit.

Cloverdung begins chipping away at the ceiling where Bone detected magic above. After almost an hour of chipping and singing, horribly by the way, Gubikla decides to speed the process up. Or stop the singing. Really, to stop the singing.

Gubikla steps out from the tunnel below and shoots a lightning bolt at Cloverdung, and the ceiling he has been banging. The bolt fritzes Cloverdung for damage but also knocks off a couple of inches of ceiling. Seeing as this is going to take forever, Hammar finally remembers that he has a stone shape spell. Hammar climbs up there with Cloverdung and shapes the stone into a hatch that is then opened. Cloverdung and Hammar climb through and find themselves in a tunnel.

The others eventually climb up there as well. Bone leads the group down the tunnel to a T-intersection that leads to two doors. Bone and Hammar go through one door but find an empty room. Disappointed, Hammar goes to the other door. As Hammar is opening the door, the door is pulled opened and Hammar falls into the room. While lying on the ground, Hammar is hit by something invisible (and it remains invisible). So, Cloverdung and Bone start swinging in the air like crazy trying to hit whatever might be there. Eventually, Cloverdung and Bone damage something, but invisible things keep damaging the party as well. After more sword swinging, spirit guardians, and a fireball, things settle down. To make sure there are no more invisible things around, Cloverdung carries Hammar on his shoulders (while the spirit guardians spell is still active) through all of the rooms and tunnels.

Convinced all the invisible things are gone, Othello searches for secret doors. He finds one that leads to a ladder going up. The party climbs the ladder and find themselves at a door. Bone opens the door to a room that is like the inside of a geode, all sparkly and shiny and shit. There is a small walkway suspended into the middle of the room. A floating metal ball, with multiple eyes, asks the party if they are gods. There is a small green book floating above the ball as well.

Everyone says yes, we are gods. Cloverdung even goes out onto the walkway with his hands on his hips repeating that he is a god. The others stay back, knowing something bad is about to happen. The metal ball starts shooting lasers and bolts out of its eyes, along with a couple of metal boomerangs. Party members start taking damage. Cloverdung jumps over the metal ball, grabs the book, and falls to the bottom of the geode. Gubikla starts using his fireball and lightning spells, some which are absorbed by the anti-magic of the creature. Bone and Othello start hitting the creature with their weapons, doing some good damage. Hammar whines about his spells but finally starts doing some damage with his hammer. Eventually the metal ball head thing is destroyed. Gubikla finds a small piece of something in the middle of the ball’s head that is magical and probably does something cool.

Cloverdung climbs up out of the geode, stashes the green book, and rejoins the others.

Side Note: Hammar has begun building his temple. His architectural drawings change daily, but the laborers don’t mind charging extra fees for all the changes.

Other Side Note: Cloverdung buys out the local barrel maker so the building can be converted into a restaurant/bar. It is a two story building, near a town gate, that is getting gutted to better suit the needs of feeding patrons. The name of the place is Gnads & Nipples.
