So, as our adventurers awake after much needed rest, they go through their leveling-up processes to better their fighting skills. All of them are now 3rd level. Borris has completed his construction of weapons for the group. These are made out of a bizzare bronze material that is resistant to acid and rust.
The adventurers learn of several strange evnts occurring around town. Hill giants attaking travelers, livestock gone missing, people being killed. Even the local mill seems to be suffering from some outside influence.
Bone decides that the group shoudl check out the sighting of a Red Headed hill giant eating horses on the East road into town. As the party is walking along the road, East of town, a cloud of dust is seen coming from that direction. Upon closer inspection, it is a pair of wagons being driven hard by the drivers. Sudddenly, a large head can be seen chasing the wagons. A hill giant! Then, as the wagons get closer, it is not just one hill giant chainsing the wagons, but rather THREE!
The party decides to get on both sides of the road and wait for the giants to get within attack range. Othello and Hammar hide in a clump of bushes to the right. Bone and Gubikla get off to the right while Kavis and Cloverdung go to the left side of the road.
When the giants are within range is when one of the wagons is suddenly smashed, throwing the driver to the ground and splattering the horses. Othello, Gubikla, and Cloverdung unleash on the giants. Bolts, spells, and arrows fly.
Two of the giants gain an interest in the newly discovered people attacking them, while the third goes to town on the driver, killing him. Bone and Hammar advance on one giant. Attacks are exchanged with victory going to Bone and Hammar. Unfortunately for Hammar, he forgets to move after a giant is slain, so he is squashed by the falling mass. Splat!
The other giant meets his doom at the hands of Kavis and Cloverdung. Kavis avoids the falling giant. While the party shifts their attention to the last giant, Hammar struggles to get out from the giant that fell on him. No luck. He only manages to get a face full of hill giant ass while squirming around.
The last giant lifts a boulder and chunks it at the party while screeming “Smallberries”. The rock glances off the ground, avoided by the group. It doesn’t take long for the entire party to kill off the last giant. In fact, it is killed before Hammar can finally get out from under the dead giant.
The group investigates the smashed wagon, dead giants and driver. Some bolts of cloth and a chest are found in the wreckage. Booty is gathered from the giants pouches. And a worn silver amulet is found on one of the giants. Cloverdung takes the amulet.
Hammar uses some found ink to write a note that states “You are welcome” as the group arranges the dead giants for passer-bys to see. Little did Hammar know that the ink was a very expenisve type used for writing scrolls. The group decides to head towards the Mill next to investiagte what was going on there.
As the group approaches the Mill, someone notices what seems to be movement on the rooftop. Thinking something is not right, most of the group heads for the side of a nearby silo, while Othello sneaks down the river toward the water wheel at the Mill.
Cloverdung climbs the ladder of the silo to the top. When he arrives up there, he hears a half-orc voice from within, near the propped open trap door. Cloverdung speaks in orcish, in an attempt to get whoever is won their to reveakl themselves. It works. A half-orc sticks his head out and Cloverdung chops it off with his longsword. Cloverdung then hollers down at the others, trap! Half-orcs are waiting for us. The party notice other half-orcs, peering out openings in the three silos, with bows.
Meanwhile, Othello has proceeding down the river to the water wheel and successfully rides the wheel up to the top floor of the Mill. Once inside, he sees three half-orcs looking out the window, waiting for prey.
Gubikla decides to shoot a fire spell at one of the openings of the first silo. Knownig this is about to happen, Cloverdung, using his magic gloves, grabs the block and tackle on the middle silo in an attempt to swing to the third silo roof. Poof! Fire breaks out in the first silo, with half-orcs screaming in pain and a flame shooting out the roof. Cloverdung clears the fire and as he is flying to the third silo is fired upon by some half-orcs in the middle silo.
Hammar joins in the fire fun and lights the middle silo ablaze with his sacred flame spell. More half-orcs begin to burn and scream. Upon landing on the roof of the third silo, another half-orc confronts Cloverdung. Before the half-orc can get in a solid lick, Cloverdung firemans down the ladder of the silo while Hammar lights the thirds silo on fire with his sacred flame.
While the silo adventures are occurring, Othello sneaks up on a half-orc and kills him, while remaining unnoticed by the other two half-orcs. Actually, Othello kills all of the half-orcs in his attic area without being noticed.
Bone and Kavis advance to the Mill proper, to fight the half-orcs standing in the doorway. A couple of half-orcs, on the roof of the Mill, fire some arrows but do little damage. Hammar and Gubikla take out the roof top half-orcs, while Bone and Kavis clean up the last half-orcs in the Mill.
With half-orc bodies lying everywhere, most party members start searching for loot. Cloverdung begins to search the bodies, looking for one in paticular. He is looking for the known outlaw, Uther Skullhammer. A large half-orc with a missing toe and partial missing ear. Suddenly, from a back room in the Mill, Skullhammer leaps out, attacking Othello with a long sword. He does some moderate damge to Cloverdung, but Cloverdung deals damage back. And then the rest of the party fires in, killing Skullhammer to his death. Smallberries!
With all of the villians killed, the real looting begins. Kavis takes the bedroom, Othello takes the cellar, Bone takes the kitchen, Gubikla takes the back room, while Hammar takes the parlor. Items are found and taken. Even those these are the items of the dead people who ran the Mill, it still falls into the category of booty for the group. Most of the flour at the Mill has been destroyed, however, a couple of wagon loads are found around back. So, the party decides to make pancakes. Yes! they find a jar of smallberries to add to the pancakes, and syrup.
While the party is preparing pancakes and finsihing their looting, a large group of townfolks, more like a mob with pitchforks, arrives at the Mill. Knowing things don’t look as they actually are; party making pancakes amidst the dead millers and half-orcs, Cloverdung approaches the mob to tell them what really happened.
Cloverdung says “The half-orcs killed off the people running the Mill, ran-sacked the place, and started celebrating, when suddenly we appeared and saved the day.” Rolling a natural 20, the mob bought it!
As the party and the city mob go back to town, the group decides to stop off at the Baliff’s office to report our findings and get some reward money. Boom! We are given gold for finding and killing Skullhammer, a wanted criminal, and for killing the hill giants that were gaurding the city road.
It was a good day for killing and gold collecting. Smallberries!
