Adventure 29
Party Members:
Cloverdung – 6th Level Ranger
Othello – 6th Level Thief
Gubikla – 6th Level Magic User
Hammar – 6th Level Cleric
The Sisters of Mercy temple call upon Othello because they have discovered some information about the guy killed by monsters inside the evil keep. The temple priests tell Othello that the monster did stuff to this guy that is bad. SO, for the next 45 minutes, Othello, Hammar, and Gubikla try to convince Cloverdung that they need to go to the keep to see what is causing this because they think a green dragon-scaled book is located inside.
Finally, Cloverdung agrees, provided he is third in line. Othello and Hammar agree to lead the party with Cloverdung following them, and Gubikla in the rear as sniper bait. Before heading out, Cloverdung hires some locals to rebuild the bridge up by their home, that has been destroyed. Hammar also pays for a wagon driver to take us to our home so that we do not have to walk. The group will head to the keep after a night of rest.
When the party arrives at their home, Cloverdung decides it needs a new name. So, he calls it Titty Point. The others do not agree, so after appealing to his god Aegir, Hammar decides we should name it Aegir’s Anus. And thus, the home now has a name. Although Kavis did not get to vote on the name, Othello promises he will agree.
So, the next morning, the party awakes and heads towards the keep of green meanies. AS they approach, they come upon the field of dead centaurs. Hammar decides to animate dead on a few of the bodies. He finds one that comes back as a zombie and the other two come back as skeletons. Now the party has some additional bodies for any baddies to target.
Upon reaching the walls to the keep, Hammar send the zombie centaur up to the gate. A swarm of green things start to head towards the zombie. As the zombie is instructed to head away, with the greenies chasing, the rest of the party run up to the gate. Othello climbs over the wall in an effort to find a way to open the portcullis. Hammar and the skeletons try to lift the gate. Gubikla turns invisible and flies over the wall to see what he can see. Cloverdung keeps an eye on the greenies and the zombie.
As Othello is trying to turn the crank to open the portcullis, Cloverdung notices the greenies swarm the zombie, eat all of its skin, and then start to head back to the gate. Cloverdung begins to panic and hollers for Othello to open the gate quickly. Othello starts to open the gate when a gargoyle attacks him. Gubikla goes into a nearby tower to see if there is any treasure around while Othello starts fighting the gargoyle. Cloverdung, using his shield, flies over the wall and finds a swarm of green things coming out of hives in the castle grounds. In a panic, Cloverdung flies into the tower where Othello is fighting the zombie and crashes into Othello. With both of them lying on the ground and the gargoyle moving in, Othello fires his lightning wand, in a small 10 x 10 stone room. Well, the blasts hits the gargoyle, does damage, then bounce to the next wall, and the next wall, and then Cloverdung, and then the next wall, and then the gargoyle again, does damage, kills it, and then the next wall, and then the next wall, and then the next wall. Hammar calls upon his protective angels to kill the green swarm that is approaching. Zap! Most of the greenies are killed but a couple attach themselves to Hammar and start eating his flesh. Gubikla fireballs the other green swarm and clears it out. Hammar finally kills all the creatures around him and Othello opens the portcullis.
Yeah! The party is inside the castle walls. There is a large building with windows that is sitting in the center of the castle walls. Cloverdung takes Othello up to a second floor window and tosses him inside. Cloverdung then goes down to get Hammar and Gubikla. The two skeleton centaurs remain downstairs to attack anything that approaches them. The small office in which the party lands does not contain anything of value so they move further into the building. The next room they find is someone’s sleeping area. Hammar heads to a chest. Cloverdung goes to the nightstand. Othello goes to a desk. And Gubikla stands on the large bear rug in the center of the room, since it emitted magic.
Cloverdung finds a porn magazine in the nightstand. When Gubikla goes to lift up the rug, in closes in on him. Gubikla finds himself gasping for air and n total darkness and the rug tries to crush him. Hammar and Othello hit at the rug in an effort to get it to let Gubikla go. Gubikla manages to create a hole in the rug with his chromatic orb spell (can anyone say glory hole?). Cloverdung lights a torch thinking he might be able to cause the rug to release if it feels fire. As the group is trying to decide how to get Gubikla out of there, WHHOOOPFT!!! A fireball is released from inside the rug, by Gubikla. The party sees the rug briefly collapse in tight and then suddenly exploded into a large flash. And then parts everywhere. Everyone, except Gubikla, takes fire damage from the spell. As Cloverdung is regaining his feet and patting out fires on himself, he realizes that not a single monster has damaged him. However, his mates have applied over 75 hit points of damage to him on this short adventure.
The party decides to heal up in this room and wait for Kavis to catch up, because he too should be in on this party-damage.
