Adventure 54 – Back in Wyntbridge

Did Nitty Sharpstick kill Cloverdung?
No, but Hammar’s mom did take a cut in the back as she was riding Cloverdung when Nitty Sharpstick threw his dagger…

Gublika teleports the party back to the courtyard of the Fishing Bear Inn.  The party come into the Inn tired and grimy.  They immediately sit down a get a good bite to eat and more importantly drink.  There is some Drow elf in the Inn that was apparently waiting for the parties return.  He approaches Othello and introduces himself as Tentranac.  He has heard about our conquests and would like to join our group.  He claims that he can track thing underground and is pretty good with a bow.  Othello is reluctant as it would mean another split of treasure.  But he kinda misses is old scouting buddy Cloverdung.  Besides Tetranac is an elf how long will they really last and who know what cools stuff he has on him, so Othello agrees that he can join the party.  The party is finishing up their meal when an owl flies in and lands on the table.  Othello make the comment, that he was not aware that Hogwarts was recruiting?  The note was actually from Borris letting the party know that he wanted to see them at midnight and for us to be discreet.  Well with some time to kill Othello started entertaining the crowd.  Othello noticed a watchman at the bar that looks like he was sent to keep an eye on the party.  So Othello buy everyone a drink with the coins he has collected by performing.  The watchmen get really drunk and makes it easy for the party to leave and cut across the burnout area of town to Boris’ place.

There Boris tell of the fact that he is headed to capital with the sheriff as nobiles have continued to go missing or turn up dead.  That means that Wyntbridge is in need of a interim sheriff.  He was hoping to give appoint Cloverdung but has he has not been seen for months he has decided to give it to Bone on a condition.  Boris says that he know that Bone has the sheriff’s missing sword and he needs it back.  He says that he know the sheriff is a pain but there could be trouble if the sheriff did not have it on his return to the capital.  He offers Bone a replacement sword.  This one that can ignite in flame.  After seeing the sword Bone agrees.  Boris tell Bone that there will be a ceremony in the morning to hand over the potion and the he should have his colors/flag ready to be hosted.  Boris goes on to say there is news that a note came from Highbvail they they are in trouble and it sounded like Deaphold was in trouble as well.   The Gnolls are still raiding the countryside so we might consider fortifying Dillhole.  We let him know that we think we are on the trail of Erlic Black Snake in the quarry.

The next morning Bone goes through ceremony to make Bone the sheriff and raise Bone’s flag that turns out to be a red background with a yellow chicken followed by a great sword  followed by two more chickens.  Thus making it look like hand holding up the middle finger. After the ceremony the party splits up sell the loot they have collected and buy supplies.  Those that could get trained to the next level of there profession did so as well.  Bone and Othello find a gem cutter that will cut and polish the uncut gems they had gathered.  Talin head over to a temple to get his tapestry investigated and it turns out to be a good thing as it is part of a map that five other tapestries are reported to make.  The map leads to an ancient dwarven treasury where supposedly the spoils of a dragon the dwarven clan had killed were stored. Othello determines that the quarry is owned by four individuals.  He starts off with the widow and buy her ⅕ share for apparently more than it was worth.  The widow take the gold and gems as payment and burns down her place and head out to the cost.  Next on the list is the judge and buy his ⅓ share out.  Now this leaves Clement Pace the Wagon Master and Ralf Alieron the Shipping Magnate with 14/30 share.  Othello was also seen sending a bear skin off to someone named Grelinda.  Hammar had a dream of Ager crying tears of beer that fell into a pool.
