Adventure 129 – The tentacle poo infested cavern.

Othello – Gnome:  Thief (lvl 15)
Bone – Human: Fighter (lvl 15)
Gubikla – Gnome: Wizard (lvl 14)
Tetranac – Drow: Ranger (lvl 12)
Hammar – Dwarf: Cleric (lvl 13)

Did Cloverdung feel like he was home in all the crap?
Did Kavis get eaten by the tentacle squid creature?

After killing the rat voltron the party did a quick rest while searching the area but not finding much of interest.  The party heads deeper into the cavern and find two tunnels or passageways of the back of it. Hearing nothing at the entrances the party decides to go down the right one with a dire wolf leading the way.  The wolf was enlarged by Gubikla. It come up to a hole in the ceiling and stops. After doing some quick investigations from afar and not finding anything Tetranac send the wolf in and it gets scooped up by some tentacles.  Next Tetranac summons a lion and it gets taken up. All the party hears is the crunching of bones. Bone goes up to the edge with Othello on the other side hiding. The tentacles come down and grab Bone and pulls him up. Tetranac tries to dash in and shoot then retreat.  He ends up getting hit by a tentacle but not grabbed. But he ends up being able to cast spike growth along the inside of the hole. So it does damage to the tentacles as they pass through it. Othello manages to shoot it but gets pulled up in the process. Gubikla stands back and cast a fireball.  After some melee battles and Hammar finally deciding to get pulled up so he could fight without casting sacred flame. Bone manages to kill it and as it starts to slide/fall out of the hole that is hundred feet from the ground. Bone manages to crawl up the side of it so he won’t get smashed by it. The rest fall and retreat.  Gubikla was the only one that retreated far enough that he was not covered in the crap that it excreted behind him and flowed out in the passageway a lot farther than anyone thought possible.

After clearing themselves off as much as possible and now know they were not going to sneak up on anyone advanced farther down the hallway.  This time with bear out front. We find another hole and more tentacles pull anyone that gets near up. This time we are able to save the bear from the first attack.  Gubikla casting what spells he has left. Most of the party is now getting thrown about by the tentacles as well as trying to be eaten by the creatures beak like mouth.  But this time othello manages to paralyze it with his magical dagger. This allowed Bone to strike the perfect blow and cut all the way around the mouth killing it and letting all of the guts fall down.  But as the rest of the creature is still parylized it stays locked in the cavernous hole. Searching finds part one gantlet that is not human.

After the battle and needing to rest again the party decides to head back to town and allow the member to level up that can.  They are also assured that the wizard can get them back by smelling the bottle of cave squid poo that he collected.
