While Kavis is stuffing his face with pie, Othello is downing a bottle of wine. Gubikla and Hammar are rummaging through the shelves. Cloverdung is trying to decide what to eat first. Hammar and Kavis sample the casks of ale. Othello discovers various goods in crates. The crate containing salt is taken by Cloverdung who proceeds to load it into the wagon.

Gubikla does a detect magic in the pantry to discover one of the lanterns giving off a glow. Kavis takes the lantern and starts shining it around the room. Othello discovers there are a couple of lens filters on the lantern, blue and orange. Kavis tries the colored lens and shines around the room. When he shines the orange on the floor and outline is formed. When he shines the blue on the outline, a portal opens up. Othello pushes Cloverdung down the hole. He lands in a hallway, that leads off in one direction.

The rest of the party climb down to join Cloverdung. The group travels down the hallway and finds a boat, sitting on some launching poles. Gubikla speaks another secret phrase given to him by the home owner, and a wall slides down to let some river water flood in, to fill the room with enough water to launch the boat. Apparently, the party has found the boat launch for the fortress.

Kavis gets bored with the boat room and decides to head upstairs to see what is up there. As he travels up the stairs, boom, he finds a trap. After putting out the fires on himself, Kavis lets Othello take over the lead to search for traps. A couple more traps are found by Othello, so the group follows up cautiously. Except Hammar, he steps on one of the marked traps.

At the top of the stairs, Othello has some trouble picking the locks on the metal door, but eventually gets it. Kavis opens the door and Hammar goes straight to a brass fish holding several pearls. Kavis heads to a podium holding a black book. Othello heads to a suit of armor. Gubikla goes to a table with a skull and hand figurine on it. Cloverdung goes to a shield hanging on the wall.

As Kavis grabs the book, a pair of mechanical lions, on each side of Kavis, come to life and attack. Kavis is pinned by one lion and other starts tearing into Cloverdung. Shortly before Kavis and Cloverdung are killed, the others join in the fight to destroy the lions.

People start loading up loot. After the perimeter is cleared, everyone slowly approaches the coffin in the middle of the room. Being paranoid, everyone searches cautiously around the coffin. With nothing being found, Kavis and Cloverdung decide burning the coffin would be best. Kavis pours some brandy inside the coffin and ignites it. Suddenly, the room starts filling with amoke, so the lid is closed. Cloverdung and Kavis decide to take the coffin outside to burn it good. Once outside, the coffin is burned to ashes.

Kavis heads back inside to help the others continue their searches. Before heading back in, Cloverdung notices the wagon is missing. Pissed off, he finally heads back upstairs to rejoin the others.

Kavis puts the book back on the pedestal and tries to open it. Crackle! A large electrical bolt shocks Kavis for a lot of damage. While he was being electrocuted, Kavis and Othello get a glimpse of a creature trying to form out of the mirror. Kavis is talked into trying it again so the others can get a better look at the creature in the mirror. He is shocked again, but no one sees the creature again.

Gubikla convinces Kavis to give him the book. Since Kavis cannot open the book, he agrees. As soon as Gubikla has the book, he puts a ring on his finger and disappears. With Gubikla gone, the secret portal leading to this upstairs is about to close. Everyone left decides to head back to the foyer so they are not trapped in the secret rooms.

Feeling tricked by Gubikla, the others head back to town to hopefully get some answes. The party makes it back to the temple where the finger guy was ressurected, they find Gubikla there waiting for them.

The raised guy gets the book from Gubikla and in turn, gives the deed to his fortress to the party. When asked about the coffin in his secret room, the finger guy tells the group how that is a magical coffin to heal people when hurt.

With the quest completed, rare for this group, they all decide to rest and level up.

(Also, the adventure group will convert their characters to the released 5e rules.)
