Othello – 6th Level Thief
Gubikla – 6th Level Magic User
Kavis – 5th Level Fighter
The group wakes up and has breakfast around noon down in the dining area of the Inn. While eating, Cloverdung asks the server if there are any rumors of late. The server says there is a cult that has moved into the poor section of town, the Hive. Suddenly, a person comes running in asking to speak to Hammar. Cloverdung interrupts the messenger and states that Hammar is eating, what is the message? The guy states that it is of most importance Hammar sees his note. Cloverdung passes the guy over to Gubikla. Once Gubikla realizes the guy wants payment for delivering the note, Gubikla directs him to Othello. Othello finally pays the guy, a reduced rate though, and the note is given to Hammar. It states that if Hammar can produce a miracle, the people will be very willing to follow him.
While still eating, each member lists some of the things available for us to do. No one is really set on any one thing so the group is fractured at the moment on which quests to pursue.
Once the party finishes breakfast, a list of the 12 things there are for us to do is made and Othello rolls a 12-sided dice. It is a 10, which means we are going after the cultist.
Actually, Hammar goes to the bar in the Hive area to start asking about the cultist. Othello is sneaky around, keeping an eye on Hammar. The others stayed back at the Inn until there was more information. Hammar is stumbling through his interview of the bar tender and Othello sees a sneaky guy watching Hammar. Cloverdung suddenly realizes that letting Hammar go alone was probably not the best idea, so he gets up to head over to the Hive bar. Eventually, Kavis and Gubikla head that way as well.
Hammar learns of an old woman, living above the bar, that usually knows what is going on in the Hive. So, he goes to her apartment and bangs on the door. Othello is still watching the streets, but nothing is happening. Hammar learns that a girl was recently killed in one of the back streets so he goes over there. The body is still there, but no one knows what happened.
While Cloverdung and Gubikla make it to the bar at the Hive, Kavis finally comes walking in a few minutes later. Before anyone can ask what took him so long, a town crier passes through the bar announcing how Hammar is going to destroy the cultist in town, tonight at 7pm, in the Hive. No need for anyone to ask Kavis why he was late now.
Hammar decides to head to the town bailiff to try and get more information on the cultist while Cloverdung and Othello continue looking around the Hive for suspected looking cultist people. Cloverdung notices a person look out their window, so he heads up there and burst open the door. The person that lives there is now pinned under the door. Cloverdung starts questioning the individual who insist that he doesn’t know anything about no cult. No convinced, Cloverdung uses some spike from his backpack and nails the door to the floor, with the guy still trapped underneath. Cloverdung tells the guy to think about his story, because Cloverdung wants a better answer when he returns.
Kavis is still hanging at the bar. Othello sees a person get grabbed and pulled into a box in one of the alleys. Using his special wonder-twin ring, Cloverdung also sees this happen. Not knowing exactly where Othello saw that box, Cloverdung starts whacking all the boxes he sees along the streets. Ooops, one of the boxes had a resident in it and he is now pissed off. Before Cloverdung can do anything, there is a group of five bums, surrounding him, threatening him to leave their “homes” alone. Cloverdung tells them to disperse, but they attack. Cloverdung knock out a couple and then kills the one that hits him with a stick. Another tries to run away but Gubikla arrives in time to frost his ass. Cloverdung heads back to the bar, exhausted from the fight.
Eventually, Gubikla meets up with Othello, who is still watching the box where a person was dragged in. Kavis is in the bar, drinking. Hammar learns from the bailiff that the cultist wear blue-purple robes and have their hair up in a knot, so he starts heading back to the bar at the Hive to tell us the news.
Othello opens the mysterious box and there is a hole, leading under the streets. Gubikla decides to cast fireball into the hole and he and Othello run like hell. Wooomf!! A large explosion rocks the city, and a building begins to crumble into flames. Othello and Gubikla run all the way back to the bar, where the others are located. The people in the bar hear the explosion and Cloverdung heads to the roof to watch the carnage. At this point, Gubikla is touched by a god and has his alignment changed from good to evil. About time he earned those stripes.
A huge fire has begun to spread throughout the Hive, burning buildings and frightening people all over the place. Cloverdung keeps a watch on the fire, the others stay in the bar, which is safe because the wind is blowing the fire in the other direction. Of course, now the bar has started to get crowded because it is getting close to 7pm and Hammar is supposed to dispose of the cultist. Kavis decides to offer up a reward of 1SP to anyone who can bring in a cultist, dead or alive. Kavis tells them they have knots on their heads and wear blue-purple robes. Several town folk give up their attempt to put out the fire because there is a reward for dead cultist.
Eventually, the fire burns out because the city wall has been reached in the direction the wind was blowing. Roughly 25% of the Hive was destroyed in the fire.
It is not too long before a couple of citizens bring in a headless body, in robes, requesting their reward from Kavis. So, Kavis alters his bounty slightly, saying the body needs to have the head attached for verification. While the town folk are killing other citizens for a reward, Othello decides to see if he can find anything in the alley where he first saw the sneaking fellow with a knot on his head. Othello does find an empty barrel, over a hole, leading down beneath the streets. this time, Gubikla does not blast it. Instead, the party goes down to investigate.
The party finds a passageway, that splits off into a few different directions. There is a door, that once opened, reveals a few skeletons in chains, and one guy still alive. Othello frees the person, who runs out of the tunnels to only be killed by town folk hunting cultist. A few other rooms are searched but nothing found. Finally, there is a staircase leading down that opens into a larger room. In this room are five guys, dressed in robes, with knots on their heads. Seems there actually are some cultist is town. A battle erupts with a couple of our guys getting paralyzed but most of the cultist dead. There is one cultist, a spell casting type, that runs away through a secret door.
So, to sum up, 25% of the Hive destroyed by “cultist” fire. Several “cultist” found and killed by citizens. A few real cultist killed by the party, and more tunnels to search.
