Adventure 104 – Vorticinal Network – Dragon & a guardian!

Is Cloverdung try to pimp out the dragons and getting sealed away?

Has Kavis found a way to the treasure room?

The party scattered across the large chamber suddenly hear a voice speaking Draconic.  This turns out to be the dragon.  They tell the party to surrender or die.  When Othello responds that he won’t surrender, the dragon starts saying the parties true names.  Those that failed to resist the spell saw other party members as some dreaded enemy doing something so dire.  Mightychondria saw Randy as some Oger that was after his girl Dasy.  Gubikla saw a horde of spiders guarding something like treasure.  Hammar saw Othello as some elf that was defiling a great vat of beer.  Talin saw Gubikla as drow slicing the beards off his clansmen.  Randy started running away from Mightychondria.  Othello climbed the wall higher after taunting Hammar.  Gubikla lucky managed to do some evasive maneuvers to try to find the treasure instead of nuking the lot of spiders.  Lucky most everyone saved and came back to their senses before doing to much damage.  Unfortunately Mightychondria was not one of those and managed to chase down and shoot Rand full of Black Iron arrows.  Othello was shooting himself up above the southern passageway.   The one that lead back to the grand chest lock down by chains.  He was pounding on the floor with his reverberation boots and trying to make the passageway cave in.  Hammar now flying due to chasing Othello up the wall when he was transfixed by the dragons spell.  Now flies out the high passageway that lead outside.  The exit was high upon a clift face on the side of a mountain.  It was magically camouflage to look like the mountain face.  It took him awhile to find his way back in and losing his hamar.  He was dragging it across the mountain face to find the opening.  Lucky when it was knocked out of his hand it bounced inside.  At this point Mightychondria has switched to thinking Othello was doing something unspeakable to Dasy.  He was shooting, but missing Othello.  Who thought there must be Orcway in the cavern as he was seeing Orcway arrows fly by.  He figures one more pound will collapse the tunnel so he starts heading toward the rest of the party to help.  Hammar managed to find his hamar and started in to help.  Randy after recovering from near death at the hand of Mightychondria is moving in to help as well.  

While Mightychondria was chasing Randy and Othello and Hammar were doing their own thing.  The rest of the party headed to what they first thought was a pit showing lava glow shining up.  It turned out to be a moat of lava in front of a 20’ raised section.  Bone walked around it trying to find a way across.  Talin got Gubikla to cast fly on him so he could fly up and see a large dragon figure on it that looks to be made of gold.  But when Talin pounds on it, it repairs itself.  The same when Gubikla cast a flame bolt at it.  Talin shield bashed it and it appears that it does not have a soul.  Gubikla tried to use telepathy to find a mind in it and became disorenty by the overpowering mind.  He ended up losing a 6th level spell slot, but gained a 9th level spell, weird, that he can cast once a day.  Talin’s hamaring apparently woke up the guardian.  A huge fire elemental rose up from the lava and started spawning normal fire elemental from drops of fire that it shed off its hands.  This lead Talin to fly off toward the northern passageway.  Bone made his way around and headed into attack the main fire beast.   Talin shot a few arrows at it on his way to the tunnel and saw the arrows melt when they got close.  Hammar, Randy, and Othello moved in to take on a few of the normal fire elementals that had spawd.  Mightychondria was chasing Othello.

This is when Othello saw a shadow crossover like the shadow of the dragon.  Othello yells out to the rest of the party as he continues to attack the fire elemental as he does not see the dragon.  The Dragon again speaks and says that the party is really in trouble now that they have awakened the guardian.  Talin had investigated the tunnel and found it lead down into the laval and thinks the dragon is using the lava to guard the treasure room.  But as he does not see a way through the lava he heads back to the party only to be swallowed up by the dragon.  This is when Talin shield bashes the dragon and sucks the dragon’s soul into his shield.   Supposedly killing the dragon.
